Project Life | Fourth Birthday Layout

20140530-IMG_5611.jpg
My daughter turned 4 last week. I knew that I wanted to commemorate that in some special way for the Project Life album but wasn't sure how. Then I remembered the amazing title page that Elise Blaha created for her 2014 album. This spread literally took my breath away when I saw it back at the end of 2013. I knew I wanted to try it myself some day. Well.... this was the day. And let me tell you, she makes it look easy. It isn't. It took
far more planning than I was prepared for. But I really enjoyed the process and and so happy with the result.

20140530-IMG_5605.jpgI started with a few black and white photos. Then pawed through all of my Studio Calico cards that I had been hoarding. I went with a red, black, light blue and some kraft colors. Pulled a few extra cards from Project Life Midnight Edition Core Kit and Amy Tangerine's Plus One Kit20140530-IMG_5612.jpg

The front came along just fine. Kind of looks like a quilt with the diamond shapes in there. Then came the hard part. The back side. I mean... it's nothing a bottle of wine and a little thought couldn't solve, but it did take some planning.

I love the way it turned out and that the process forced me out of my little box (3x4 and 4x6 boxes).

I also ran across the cutest printable birthday infographic poster from Petite Lemon. I printed (as suggested) as a 36" x 48" engineering print at Staples for about $7. I decided to add all the text after the fact in Photoshop so that I could use the poster year after year. But, if I'm being honest, I was just afraid I'd mess up the writing with markers. Without further ado:
Then I printed it out as a 12" x 12" print and put it cut it in quarters to include in the Project Life album.

On the back side I plan to write some notes about what Tilly is in to as a 3-turning-4-year-old. I'm not very good at journaling, but I am going to force myself to try to write these special notes for Tilly to remember. Wish me luck! I'll update once finished. Cheers!

  1. I love everything about this! I bet a LOT of planning went into the triangle layout. I've never seen that before...it's very neat! I'm also in love with that graphic! I pinned it and I'm definitely going to use it. I love your idea of photoshopping the words in it so you can use it year after year. Genius!
